City Insurance Insurance-Reinsurance Company, (hereinafter referred to as City Insurance), as author/owner/administrator of the website observes the privacy and safety of the data provided by you when you use this website, the personal data included, for this purpose applying the Privacy Policy.

City Insurance reserves the right to change and update the content of the website anytime, as well as the privacy policy and the terms and conditions of use, without any prior notice.


personal data - any information regarding a natural person identified or identifiable; an identifiable person is that person that can be identified - directly or indirectly, particularly by reference to an identification number or to one or several factors specific to his/her physical, physiological, psychological, economic, cultural or social identity;

personal data processing - any operation or set of operations that are performed on the personal data, by automatic or non-automatic means, such as collection, recording, organization, storage, adjustment or the alteration, extracting, consulting, use, disclosure to third parties by conveyance, dissemination or in any other way, joining or combining, blocking, removal or destruction;

storage - keeping the personal data collected on any kind of medium;

personal data recording system - any personal data organized structure, accessible according to some determined criteria, no matter if this structure is organized in a centralized or decentralized way or it is assigned according to functional or geographical criteria;

controller - any natural person or legal entity of private or of public law, including the public authorities, their territorial institutions and structures, which determines the purpose and the means for the personal data processing;

third party - any natural person or legal entity, of private or of public law, including the public authorities, their territorial institutions and structures, other than the person concerned, the controller or the authorized person or the persons who, under the direct authority of the controller or of the authorized person, are authorized to process data;

recipient - any natural person or legal entity of private or of public law, including the public authorities, their territorial institutions and structures, to whom data are disclosed, no matter if it is a third party or not; the public authorities to whom data are conveyed within a special empowerment to investigate shall not be deemed recipients;

anonymous data - data that may not be associated with an identified or identifiable person due to the origin or to the specific processing method;

'business contact' data - data that include the name, title, business address, telephone number or the e-mail address of an employee of an organization, in this capacity. 'Business contact' data do not fall into the personal data category;

statistical data - data that have been obtained as a result of the processing by the controller of the personal data, but which may not be used to identify a person and are used exclusively for statistical purposes and/or information, promotion purposes.

Personal data collection

City Insurance can collect personal data from you, but only with your consent and if you provide them voluntarily. The recorded data are intended to be used by the controller and will be conveyed only to the contractual partners of City Insurance. We use the personal data collected for the following purposes:
  1. to deliver services such as newsletters, the events or the products you asked or purchased.
  2. to customize the service we provide to you.
  3. to communicate with you with respect to the services chosen.
  4. to ensure you the access to sections with limited access of the site.
  5. to publish the list of winners of 'City Insurance' contest.
All the visitors of this site are guaranteed the rights provided for by Act no. 677/2001 on the protection of persons with respect to the personal data processing and their free movement. Thus, according to Act no. 677/2001, any natural person benefits from the following rights:
  1. the right of access to the data that concerns him/her, to obtain from the controller, upon his/her request, freely for one request a year, the confirmation that the data concerning him/her are or not processed by it
  2. the right to request the rectification, updating, blocking, removal of personal data or their conversion into anonymous data in the circumstance in which the processing does not comply with Act no. 677/2001
  3. the right to oppose anytime the processing of data concerning him/her, for grounded and legitimate reasons related to his/her specific situation, except for the events where there are legal provisions to the contrary. In the event of justified opposition, the processing will not refer to the data in question
  4. the right to oppose anytime, free of charge and without any justification, that the data referring to him/her/it be processed the purpose of direct marketing, on behalf of the controller or of a third party, or be disclosed to third parties for such a purpose
  5. the right not to be subject to an individual decision, adopted exclusively on the basis of a personal data processing
  6. the right to resort to justice in the event he/she suffered a prejudice consequently to the processing of his/her personal data
  7. the right to file a complaint to the supervisory authority in the event he/she deems that his/her data have not been processed according to the law. Thus, the natural person will submit a written dated and signed request to S.A.R. CITY INSURANCE S.A. (also via e-mail). In the request he/she will specify whether he/she wishes that the information / measures taken be conveyed to him/her to a certain address (even e-mail) or through a correspondence service ensuring only in hand delivery.
City Insurance will not disclose any personal information it obtains from you to others without your permission, except for some circumstances limited to:
  1. the compliance to the law;
  2. the protection of our site security and our rights according to our Terms and Conditions of use;
  3. actions under emergency situations for the protection of personal safety of employees, users of products or services, or of public persons.
City Insurance does not sell, exchange or rent personal data to third parties.

Collected data security

We undertake to apply the adequate technical and organizational measures for the protection of personal data against accidental or illegal destructions, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access. For this reason we use standard security technology in the field.
City Insurance uses security methods and technologies, along with policies applied to employees and to work procedures, in order to protect the personal data collected according to the legal provisions in force. Personal data are kept in a protected database, to which only some of the employees of City Insurance have access.
Data with respect to the ONLINE transactions are performed through ePayment (GECAD ePayment International S.R.L.), for the online purchase, collection of the personal data is done using an encrypted SSL conection, using a digital certificate issued by, a Verisign company.

Underage children

City Insurance has no intention to collect personal data from underage persons.


The privacy policy complies with the Romanian laws. In case of litigation, first an amicable settlement shall be tried, within 30 working days from the registration of the complaint at the head office of City Insurance. In the event a settlement may not be reached within the period specified above, the litigation will be settled by the competent law court.
